About This Piece

Natural Hawaiian ʻopihi awa shells have beautiful radial markings and an incredible amount of character packed into a tiny shell. The Petite ʻOpihi Ring is made to order using one of these naturally patterned shells, set on a sturdy 14-gauge hammered band in your choice of 14K gold fill or sterling silver.

These petite shells average approximately 11 mm wide by 13 mm long, making them a sweet little statement that is easy to wear every day.

Choose from three general color families: Ebony, Cacao, or Ivory. Because every ʻopihi shell is completely natural, your ring will be similar, but not identical, to the examples pictured. Shape, size, coloring, and pattern will vary from shell to shell. I’ll select a beautiful shell for you within the color family you choose.

Please note: Gold-fill rings are constructed with a sterling silver backplate beneath the shell, which is not visible when worn.

-Processing Time: Each piece is handcrafted by me, hand polished, and carefully packaged before shipping. Please allow 4-7 business days, although most orders ship much sooner.

-Packaging: Every detail is designed to create a beautiful unboxing experience from start to finish. Pieces arrive in hand-stamped, gift-ready packaging, including box, natural cotton Vagabond Sundries storage pouch, finished with silk ribbon and a branded wax seal. If multiple items are purchased, each piece will be protected in its own pouch and packaged together in a single box to reduce waste. If you need items packaged separately for gifting, please leave a note at checkout or message me directly after purchase.

Caring For Your Treasures

-To keep your treasures in top shape, rinse with fresh water after ocean adventures and avoid harsh chemicals, lotions, and perfumes. Generally, it’s best to remove jewelry before swimming, showering, or working out. Remember, shells are natural treasures that, with a little care, can last for years to come. 

-14k Gold Fill: 14k gold-filled jewelry has a, physical layer of 14k gold bonded over a base metal, making it far more durable than gold plating. With proper care, it can last a lifetime. Gold fill requires little maintenance. Simply wipe with a soft cloth to remove makeup, oils, or dirt. After exposure to salt water, rinse thoroughly with fresh water and wipe dry. 

-Silver: To keep your silver bright, polish with a soft cloth, silver polishing cloth, or gently clean with mild soap, water, and a toothbrush. When not wearing, store in an airtight container with anti-tarnish strips or desiccant packs (especially in humid environments). Avoid storing silver with materials that cause tarnish, such as rubber products or rubber bands. Proper storage will help maintain your silver’s shine!

-Seashells: Seashells are natural ocean treasures that can last for many years when properly cared for. To clean, use mild soap, water, and a soft brush (such as a toothbrush) to remove dirt or residue, then rinse thoroughly and dry completely. After exposure to salt water, always rinse well with fresh water and dry afterward.

If a shell’s surface appears dull or dry, its natural luster can be restored by lightly brushing with a very small amount of mineral oil. Use sparingly — a little goes a long way and excess oil can attract dust. Avoid harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners.
